Celebrations

In the formative years of the Acci which was during the second world war the only celebrations that occurred were the opening of the outpatient departments in 1944 and Royal visits (I think there was a visit during the war but if not delete)

Post-war with the expansion in staff, including medical staff and bed numbers there was during the 1950s and onwards regular staff dinners, for example consultant dinners.  At Christmastime there were departmental and professional dinners including a nurse Christmas dinner, consultants’ staff Christmas dinner and ancillary staff Christmas dinner

VIP visits were always special occasions and cause for celebration.

The social club hosted themed parties and there was always a celebration at the end of the annual Christmas show.  In the latter years Peter Millard (Hospital Manager) and others organised a number of hospital balls at venues on the Hagley Road.

The final celebration was the farewell service and tea held on ? just before the closure of the hospital.
