  • Served as a graded service in the royal Army Medical Corps in the Middle East and Palestine 1941-1945
  • Consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at the Accident Hospital 1951-1975
  • He was co-founder and subsequent chairman of the Head Injury Trust, the Head Injuries Club and the Head Injury Work Centre in Selly Oak 
  • He was a member of the BMA for 65 years 
  • He was joint author of the book “Principles of First Aid for the Injured”
  • Pre and post retirement Harry worked for the Birmingham Road Research Group at the Acci  
  • Pre-deceased by his first wife Jean in 1973
  • He leaves his second wife Joan, two children and four grandchildren
  • Harry died from pneumonia following surgery to repair a fractured neck of femur on 1 April 2007
