  • Educated Hurstpierr Point School
  • Medical education at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School 
  • Met his wife Rita at Chichester when working at Chichester Hospital 
  • Married in 1957
  • Worked at hospitals including Chichester Hospital, The Lord Mayor Trelors Hospital (Cripples Hospital) Alton, Hampshire and in Aberdeen
  • Became a consultant at the Birmingham Accident Hosptial in 1965
  • He was a consultant on Team 3 joining Peter London and Deana 
  • Of note Ken Boffard (the doyan of trauma surgery in South Africa) was a house surgeon on Team 3 at that time
  • He left to go to Saudi Arabia in 1980
  • He was born with talipes and had a Symes amputation by Symes himself at the age of 2 after which he work a prosthesis
  • He had two children, Martin who is an ENT surgeon in Worcester and Keith who is a fund manager in Montreal
  • His publications included thromboembolism and DVT.  
  • His non-medical interests included music and reading.
  • He was a keen shooter and shot at Bisley when at St Mary’s Hospital 
  • He died in 2010
