Consultant – Trauma Team 1
- Qualified in Medicine through Cambridge and St Thomas’s Hospital, London
- Came to the Acci initially as a junior registrar and was particularly interested in head injuries
- He returned to the Acci 5-6 years later to pursue and interest in general trauma and in particular head injuries
- Became consultant in Trauma Team 1 joining Mr John Hicks
- Whilst at the Acci Nigel developed an interest in arthroscopy knee surgery (keyhole surgery) and became one of the national leaders in this field where he pioneered procedures and techniques
- As a consequence he left the Acci to pursue his interest at the Birmingham General Hospital and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital
- He was a master technician at knee arthroscopy and an accomplished instructor and teacher
- He remained in touch with the Acci throughout the lifespan as an active member of the Institute of Accident Surgery
