  • Training attachments and time at Manchester Business School.
  • Assistant manager at Selly Oak Hospital later including responsibility also for Sorrento Maternity Hospital and Moseley Hall Hospital.
  • First contact with Accident Hospital on night of Birmingham Pub Bombings to assist the manager at the time
  • May 1974 appointed as manager of Birmingham Accident Hospital.
  • Developed relationship with local and national news media with the agreement of the Regional Public relations Department as the hospital was high profile and contact with the news media was a major part of my role.
  • Major fund raising event in association with the Birmingham Evening Mail and Sunday Mercury – Raised in excess of £60,000.
  • Interviewed for many programmes to discuss the work of the Hospital. Including Panorama, Jay Walking, Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, Local Radio and Middle East Health
  • Arranged 2 royal visits.
  • 1988 visit of Prince Michael of Kent
  • 1991 visit of Diana Princess of Wales
  • 1992 Transferred to South Birmingham HQ to front a new unit to manage all of the non-clinical services for the Selly Oak and the Queen Elizabeth Hospitals including providing tele communication services for 7 other associated hospitals
  • 1996 Retired on health grounds
